Vendor Registration


All vendors, except food and beverage, are welcome to participate in the Chili Cook-Off.  Vendors must provide their own table and 10'x10' canopy.  A space fee of $25 gives the vendor access to all contestants and general public.  Setup starts at 10 AM and takedown starts at 4 PM.  Vendors may sell desserts, popcorn, crafts, art, jewelry, health products and services or represent and other nonprofits in the area. 

You can help end hunger in Hernando County a number of ways:

  • Raise money to construct a Community Resource Center



Ever wanted a chance to prove to your friends how great your chili is?  Well, here's your chance to prove what good chili you make. PHP is sponsoring a local Chili Cook-Off with up to 30 contestants from Hernando County & vicinity.  Whip up your favorite meat or vegetarian chili and enter it in our Cook-Off on March 11.  

Individuals, businesses and organizations can participation in the Nature Coast Chili Cook-Off in three ways:  Contestant, Sponsor, and/or Vendor.

Besides Chili, we will serve chili dogs, beer, wine and entertainment from Dixie Blue and Press Play Sound.  The fun starts at noon on Saturday, March 11 at the Lake House in Spring Hill.

The Nature Coast Chili Cook-Off is a fundraiser for PHP to help raise money to help end hunger in Hernando County.  

Chili-Cook-Off Guidelines:


Each cook makes at least 2 gallons of chili to be sampled by the public. Local individuals, club and businesses are invited to participate. Contestants must have a list of all ingredients in their chili. Space allows for 30 contestants.

Contestant Set-Up:

Setup is from 11 until noon on March 11. Cooks will prepare chili elsewhere and bring in crockpots.  Electricity or warming trays will be provided to keep chili hot.  Sample spoons, sample cups will also be provided for tasters.  Clean up will start at 4 PM on March 11.

Contestant registration: 

Each contestant pays a $25 reservation fee which is refundable during set-up.

Public Admission:  

Entrance fee to Cook-Off is $5 for 5 samples of chili.; an additional $5 will purchase 5 additional samples or a bowl of chili


Since this is a fundraiser to help feed the homeless, donations for parking will be appreciated.


Marker 48 is the official beer sponsor. Wine & soft drinks will be available.


Each chili contestant will be judged in two ways:  

Judges' Award 

A panel of judges selected by PHP will judge the contestants for the best chili based on the following:

  • Aroma
  • Consistency
  • Color
  • Flavor
  • Aftertaste

​The "Judges' Award" for best chili will be determined by a panel of judges using the criteria above.

People's Choice 

The “People’s Choice” Award for best chili will be determined by the largest number of votes for any chili entry.  Each vote is $1.00. Individuals and teams will be encouraged to vote often for their favorite (this is a fundraiser to help feed the hungry in Hernando County).
